On The Road Again | Australian Zoo & Noosa
Time to say goodbye to Brisbane! Heading about 2 hours north on the coast to Noosa, Queensland but first I will stop at the Australia Zoo.
Thankfully the hour drive to the Zoo was uneventful. All highway and major roads. Definitely feeling more comfortable driving but I’m still tending to stay to the left side of the road per the alarm in the car. I arrived at the zoo around 11am or so. Despite walking almost 4 miles, I got through the zoo in about 3 hours. The zoo was really nice – especially the grounds – but I didn’t think there was a ton to see oddly. The zoo was split into 5 regions. I meandered through them all. Crazy but I had seen some of the animals already at the koala sanctuary as well as on safari in Africa. So spoiled! But the one animal of the Big 5 I didn’t see in Africa was the rhinoceros. So that was really cool to see at the zoo. The zoo wasn’t crowded either so that was a plus. I imagine summers and weekends are busier. After grabbing some chicken fries I made my way back to the car around 3pm. Off to my next stop – Noosa!
The drive was about an hour. I thought I was taking a scenic route along the coast but there wasn’t much to see unfortunately. Mostly just woods and side streets. I did pass through several cute beach towns.
I arrived in Noosa without incident. Yay! The Airbnb is really nice and cute. More importantly it’s super clean! I put my stuff down and went to run errands. I had to go to a camping store to buy a dry bag for my upcoming snorkel trips. I also wanted to hit the grocery store. The camping store was great – the worker gave me some great recommendations re Noosa. And the grocery store was interesting. Mostly everything they stocked was new to me.
Got back to the Airbnb and was looking around for a late dinner. Apparently restaurants close early here – at 9pm. So I ordered in some Thai via Uber Eats. I only ate a little of the pineapple fried rice and didn’t get to the pad Thai. Leftovers. And then it was Netflix and bed time. Looking forward to exploring Noosa tomorrow!
