Sydney Harbor & the Rocks | Sydney Day 5
Ahhh!! Last full day in Sydney and Australia! It’s supposed to get up to 93 degrees today. I got a late start which turned out to be a good thing – there was a brief thunderstorm that ended right before I left. When I did get out of the Airbnb I went around the corner for lunch at a coffee/bakery/Mediterranean rest I couldn’t resist getting a lamb shawarma wrap as the lamb was on a spigot thing where the meat gets cut while it spins. It was pretty good but I kinda wish I got the falafel wrap instead. Sometimes meat weirds me out. But the people working were super friendly. I then ventured off to catch a bus to Circular Quay so I could see the Rocks neighborhood. Apparently it’s an interesting part of the city. Maybe I didn’t explore it enough but I don’t get the hype. It was pretty and all that but….
I went in a few shops but nothing too special. Oh!! Burger King in Australia is called Hungry Jacks!

I had about an hour or so to kill before I went on a cocktail harbor cruise so I went to the Contemporary Art Museum which was close by. I think most museums in Sydney are free so I was surprised the admission was $20. It was an interesting museum. A lot of wasted empty wall gallery space in my opinion and some very odd “art”. I did find an artist that I thought was so cool. His name is Howard Arckley. His paintings look kinda blurry. Hard to believe they’re paintings.

Here are some of the other highlights.

Took some pictures outside the museum too. The Opera House never gets old imo.

Then it was time for the harbor cruise! I chose the upgraded experience which included a cocktail, a beer or wine and a cheese and charcuterie plate. Plus special seating. It was different than I expected. I thought I would be cruising outside of the boat but instead I was in the main dining room with the rest of the upgraded people. I had a nice table by the window. And by the Christmas tree. They played a lot of Christmas music too. A little early imo. But the cruise was cool. I don’t know if I’d recommend the cruise though. Because of the time of day, the sun glare at times was annoying. Also, you really only cruised for a little over an hour on a 2 hour trip. That’s because there was a stop before the end of the cruise at another dock and that took time. Plus I had 2 sips of the cocktail and ate the cheese and charcuterie – opted out of the beer/wine.
But it was a cool way to see more of the harbor.

Caught the bus back to my neighborhood. Saw a bat in the tree!

I stopped at a pizza place that advertised itself as NY Pizza. Ummm I beg to differ but the effort was there. Plus they wanted $7 for a Then it was back to the Airbnb to eat, shower, pack and chill! The only other eventful thing was when I was packing. I saw a HUGE bug on the floor!!!! I couldn’t tell if it was alive but I stomped on it anyway. So gross!!! I was terrified and not about to wipe it up. I covered it with a paper towel and just left it. I hope I don’t get dinged for that on Airbnb! Time for bed as I leave in the morning 😢
